The last time we did a poll of who was using what Genealogy Software was in Jan 2012.

Since then things have moved on quite a bit, there is more online activity and new options, a couple of the popular proprietary software programs have, or are about to become defunct, and there is a change in our use of operating systems with more Mac and Linux users around.

Battle of Waterloo at Scottish SIG Scotland Forever

Tracing an ancestor who was involved at the Battle of Waterloo is the topic for discussion at the Scottish SIG on Sunday Feb 15 @ 2:00pm.

This yearis the 200th anniversary of the defining Battle of Waterloo, 18 June 1815, saw the final defeat of the French leader and emperor Napoleon Bonaparte.

Genealogy in Time annual survey - WAGS is a winner top 100 genealogy website 2015

WAGS has well and truly made it into the Genealogy in Time's worldwide Top 100 Genealogy Websites - first time in and arriving at number 71.

This is a terrific achievement by WAGS considering that we are up against the monsters in the genealogy world of websites. This including the likes of Ancestry, FamilySearch, FindMyPast, GeneaNet, Geni.com and a whole swag of other paysites.

Local Gallipoli artist sees both sides Gallipoli Beach - Painting by Lev Vykopal

Lev Vykopal is an Australian artist who embarked on a residency on the Gallipoli peninsular in 2013 with the support of the Australian War Memorial, he is now searching for 11th Battalion descendants for portrait studies.

WAGS Welcomes - Bassendean Local Studies Basendean Logo

Bassendean has a long history of Aboriginal settlement, and as one of the earliest areas of European settlement in Perth, it also has a rich history of gentleman farmers, convicts and Pensioner Guards.
