1. Happy 1st Birthday

On January 16th our new updated WAGS website celebrated its first birthday and we have recorded over 120,000 visitors to the website.  Congratulations to Chris Loudon, our webmaster, for keeping the website up-to-date and continually adding new pages.  Also thank you to all the other members who regularly update their pages.

Have you looked at the Special Interest Group's pages recently?  It is easy to see  when their meetings are held and what topics will be discussed.  Their pages have a wealth of information relating to their particular area of interest.

Do you want to know what's happening at WAGS and hear about other genealogy events.  Then the Events Calendar is the place to look.  So far there are 193 events listed for 2010!

Do you want to find another website?  Then the Links page is for you.  There are now over 900 links to a variety of genealogy websites.

These are only some of the many features on the website.  Take the time to explore and find out what other information is available.

New Liaison Officer

Ray Smith is our new Liaison Officer.  Ray has been a member of WAGS for quite a few years and when he lived in Carnarvon he was involved with the Carnarvon Family History Club.  As Liaison Officer, Ray will be liaising with our Affiliated Societies, Special Interest Groups and will be managing the room bookings at WAGS.  I would like to thank Myra Tomkinson very much for looking after the room bookings up to now.

January 26th

Australia Day is a day to think about what makes Australia so unique and great.  As genealogists we are forever learning about the many different places where our ancestors lived.  On Australia Day we can reflect on our heritage, be proud of our country and be thankful that we live in such a wonderful place.

Until next time, good luck with your research.
