New Management Committee

A new Management Committee was elected at the Annual General Meeting on 28th June.  I would like to welcome two new members, Ian Lister and Brian Golding.  Ian has been a WAGS member for 2 years and Brian joined WAGS last year.  It is good to see that they are willing to be involved in WAGS decision making and it will be good to have their fresh input.

Management members continuing from last year are Karen Tregenza, Ian Barnes, Lawrence Doran, Lyn Watt, Margaret Pike and Liana Fitzpatrick. At the July management meeeting Ian Scott was seconded back on to the committee as Vice President.

We now have a regular monthly radio interview on Curtin 100.1FM radio.  The interviews will be with Liz Pye on the first Wednesday of the month at 1:20pm.  I will be doing the general interviews and will alternate with other WAGS members who will speak on a specialised topic. To have a regular monthly spot on radio is great publicity for WAGS.

National Family History Week (NFHW) will be held 1-9 August this year.  The NFHW website http://www.familyhistoryweek.org.au/ contains information about events throughout Australia.  If you are able to help during NFHW please contact me.

WAGS will be having an Open Day on Sunday 9 August (10am - 4pm).  It will be very similar to the very successful ones that have been held in the past.   More information is on this website and brochures will be handed out at the Library.

The State Library of Western Australia is having a series of tours and presentations during the week.  The topics look very interesting and I am pleased that WAGS members are presenting quite a few talks.  WAGS will also have a display in the Genealogy Centre on the 1st floor.  Check out the SLWA website http://www.slwa.wa.gov.au/whats_on/national_family_history_week for further details and times.

Until next time, good luck with your research.

Liana Fitzpatrick
