Photograph 4aThe 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month has a special significance - it was the moment in 1918, when hostilities ceased on the Western Front and brought about an end to the dreadful carnage. WAGS will observe the 99th anniversary of this significant day in Unit 4/48 May St on Saturday, 11th November.

At 10.30am, Julie Martin from WAGS Cheops Project will tell of the events leading up to the men of Western Australia’s 11th Battalion being photographed on the Great Pyramid in Egypt and outline the stories of the some of the men who appear in this famous image.

Precisely at 11am, one minute’s silence will be observed and be followed by the Last Post to remember and honour those Australians who died or suffered in war and armed conflicts. Please join us for this special commemoration. Family and friends are most welcome.  The Computer Special Interest Group will meet after the Remembrance Day ceremony.
