2009 FFHS - Highly Commended Award

WAGS website has won a Highly Commended Award from the Federation of Family History Societies. The FFHS award gives recognition to Genealogy and Family History websites under a number of design criteria.

This is a great accomplishment for WAGS in our first year of entry.

The WAGS website upgrade was first mooted at the Planning Day held in November 2006. A "Virtual Team" was quickly formed and work progressed under the guidance of Mike Murray until June 2008. Chris Loudon then undertook to co-ordinate the development of the content, and to populate the website to cater for the expanding needs of members.

WAGS members who have contributed to the website planning, development and content include; Cynthia Brock, John Cannon, Marilyn Dimond, Yvonne Lamble, Chris Loudon, Mike Murray, Mary Rogers, Ian Scott, Edwina Shooter, Lesley Silvester and Ian Waterston. We also acknowledge the ongoing assistance we receive from our host provider Andre Morkel and the team at Openwire.

The development of the WAGS website is continuing, and we will see further enhancements over the coming months.

The FFHS website outlines the Awards Design Criteria and the recipients of the 2009 Website Awards in all categories.
