WAGS - Military SIG

  • PDF

The next meeting of the Military Special Interest Group will be on Saturday 16 November 2019.  Our guest presenter is Trish Woodman from the Military History Society of WA.  Her topic "The Boer War - what's that?" will focus on:

  •  Where did it take place, who was involved, what kind of experience it was for our soldiers. No strategy or statistics.
  • Stories of WA involvement.
  • Where to find information.

This will be of interest to those with Boer War family members, or in WA military history in the late 19th century.  Trish's presentation will be followed by our usual meeting, so bring along your queries and brickwalls and a gold coin donation for afternoon tea.

Bookings to attend can be made via this link https://www.trybooking.com/book/event?eid=459926.

About the Military SIG

  • PDF

BugleThe initial meeting of the WAGS Military Special Interest Group was held on Saturday 17 October 2015, where it was agreed that there was sufficient interest amongst WAGS members to form a specific SIG to provide assistance and a place for those with military interests to be heard.

The primary aim of the group is to enhance the knowledge of members and other interested parties in the research of all things military, in particular from a genealogy or family history perspective.

We meet every three months, usually on the third Saturday of February, May, August and November, from 1:30pm to 4:30pm, at WAGS Unit 4/48 May Street, Bayswater.

We are a self-help group, aiming to improve our general knowledge about things military and to help members navigate the minefield of military research. We will also spend time looking at successes, problems and queries.

All WAGS members are welcome to come along to our meetings and join our mailing list. A gold coin donation at the meeting helps to build up funds to purchase additional resources for the library or our projects. Maybe we'll see you at one of our meetings soon.
