I have been doing my English/ Scottish family and now want to do the Italian side of the family but have no idea where to start. Can anyone guide me to the best research tool. I have very little to start. The family comes from Sicily. thank you

The Mormons have a good collection of Italian records. Over the past year there has been a major push to transcribe these. First see if their are any digitised records at Family Search www.familysearch.org

Remember to check the catalogue for film holdings. It is probable that you will need to order films to be viewed at your nearest Family History Centre (Usually located in a Mormon temple.) It costs about $8 per film (this covers the postage from Utah) and takes about 3-4 weeks to arrive from the US. Instructions for registration are on the website.

Also look at the ancestry forums for Italy. These should provide you with some background information and a pool of people to help you with your questions.
