Ada Bodart - The WA Connection Dennis Joseph Doherty MLC

Ada Bodart was condemned to death for helping British soldiers escape from German occupied Belgium during the 1914-1918 War. Whilst Edith Cavell's death is being commemorated in Britain during October 2015, Ada Bodart (O.B.E.) has been virtually forgotten.

Ada had a little known connection to Ivanhoe Station in Western Australia and the MLC for Fremantle Denis Doherty.

The Western Australian Homefront WW1 Sister Phillips nurses an 11Bn soldier at Fremantle Base Hospital

This special Presentation by Deborah Gare, Associate Professor at Notre Dame University, is not to be missed - Tuesday 17 March 2015, 19:00 - 22:30.

By 1918, when the trench warfare in Europe was finally brought to a halt, more than 60,000 Australian men had been killed while serving with the Australian Imperial Force. Their story is well known.

Forgotten, however, are the names and faces of those whose lives were shaped by Australia's war - the human stories that give history meaning.
