Notice of Alteration of the WAGS By-Law

The 2016 by-law amendments were reissued on 21 April 2016. The Notice of Alteration of the WAGS by-laws and the 2016 WAGS by-laws can be found in the members only, WAGS business, by-laws area of the WAGS web site.

The Management Committee on 21 March amended the by-laws to remove some inconsistencies with the Constitution and made a new by-law for Associate Members. When the Management Committee reviewed the Operations Manual on 18 April, to bring it up to date with current accepted practice, it was necessary to make some further amendments to the by-laws to allow some of the changes to the Operations Manual.

Any Member can give notice six weeks prior to the next AGM that they intend moving a motion to disallow the new by-law or the amendments to these by-laws. For more information please read the notice posted in the members only area.

Geni Software Poll Apr 2016

Have Your Say in our Geni Software Poll for 2016 Vote

The last time we did a poll of who was using what Genealogy Software was in Feb 2015, and before that in Jan 2012.

Since our last Poll there has been quite a bit of movement in the Geni Software industry. There is yet more online activity and new options, Ancestry.com announced the discontinuation of the popular Family Tree Maker and then that they had sold it and it is resurrected, other popular proprietary software programs have become defunct, and there is yet more change in our use of operating systems with more Mac and Linux users around. So, we are taking a fresh look at what is being used in 2016 by users of the WAGS website - not just members, so anyone can enter their preferred option into the poll.

Now on the front page of WAGS website (on the left under the menu bar) - please let us know what you are using.

WAGS gets honourable mention GenealogyInTime 2016 Top 100 Websites - WAGS Mentioned

Well we didn't make the top 100 Genealogy Websites by GenealogyInTime Magazine this year, mind you the competition has hotted up quite a lot and the beheamouths have made it more difficult to get into the topslots, but we did crack a mention in the Genealogy Websites Worth Knowing.

For our society to be mentioned again in the same category as some of the biggest names in Genealogy is still a great result and testament to the hard work that our contributors put into the WAGS website.
