What is happening at WAGS?

It has been a busy time at WAGS. Our e-commerce membership module was launched on Friday 15th April. Within 24 hours 70 members had renewed on line! Fantastic! It is great to see new members joining online. Thanks to Chris Loudon and the team for all their work in getting this module up and running. Further details are at the Membership and eCommerce Update.

Karen would be pleased to hear from you if you have any ideas for future courses. Our thanks go to Lee-Ann Atkinson who has been the convenor for a number of years.

Diane Foster (Member No 12223) is our new Archivist. Diane is a new member to WAGS but has a wealth of experience in this role. If you are able to assist Diane in this area please contact the This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Congratulations and thank you to both of these members for volunteering to take on these positions.

National Volunteer Week is held in May and the theme this year is Inspiring the Volunteer in You. To celebrate this week WAGS held a morning tea on Monday 9th May. It was our chance to thank our wonderful volunteers for making and keeping the society at the cutting edge of technology and helping many people to achieve their research goals.

Existing volunteers and would-be-volunteers enjoyed a delicious morning tea and shared their experiences with other members. Karen and Diane who recently took on the above appointments were introduced along with Julie Martin, our Librarian and Julie Maddocks, our Projects Officer. They gave an insight into the volunteer roles in their areas.

If you would like to know more about volunteering at WAGS ask one of the volunteers or email the This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . The list for volunteering is endless ... help in the library, membership, morning teas at Orientation Days and special events, writing an article for Western Ancestor, purchasing supplies, helping at PR events. It doesn't have to be a huge commitment - whatever time you can spare. Every little bit helps.

Display at WAGS Library
A Celebrate the Women in Your Family display is in the WAGS library (unit 5, 48 May St, Bayswater) from the 7th - 21st May 2011.  Further details can be found in the Celebrate the Women in Your Family Display article. Different displays will be held in the Library on a regular basis; so keep looking to see what will be featured next.

WAGS AGM
Our AGM will be held on Sunday 26th June 2011 at Bayswater Senior Citizens Centre, 27 King William St, Bayswater. Further details can be found in the WAGS AGM article.

Until next time, good luck with your research.
