WA Passenger Arrivals 1839-1890 Passenger Index - This database contains details of some 27,907 immigrants, including Convicts and their Guards, arriving in Western Australia from the United Kingdom, Europe, Asia and other ports in Australia. 347 Vessels covering 645 voyages appear in the index.

Swan River Colony Quarter Sessions Transcriptions (1830-1840) - WAGS member Graham Bown has recently completed transcriptions of the early Record Books, Indictments and Minute Books and has provided us with copies to be made available for members on the WAGS website.

Library

With the Library cataloguer and the Acquisitions librarian away travelling  there has been reduced activity in delivering new items to the shelves of the WAGS Library. Despite this, forty four items have been added in the past few months and you can browse these titles from the comfort of your home.

To view a list of the 40+ items, log into the Members Only area of the WAGS website and open up the Library sub menu on the left hand side of the Membership home page.  Click on Acquisitions and in the table that opens up, go to the field headed Acquired.   Click on the down arrow and in the list that opens, chose 2013-08.  The five pages which then appear list all the new items.

After you've  finished looking at the listing, click on the BLOG tab which is the third one across on the header at the top of the web page.

There you'll be able to read more about some of the new items added to stock.

You can also go directly to the WAGS blog by clicking here WAGS Blog

Whilst you're on the BLOG page, read Article Spotting #5 - a mixed bunch, a summary of interesting articles found in newly arrived journals in the WAGS Library.

Good luck with your researching from all WAGS Library volunteers!

Legacy User Group

Many WAGS members use the genealogy program LEGACY.  Like most good things, it takes time to learn the capabilities and how it may enhance your genealogy story.

We need 15 members to apply for a special interest group within WAGS.  So, if you are interested in becoming part of a Legacy User Group please email me as follows:

legacy@wags.org.au   I will keep you informed of our progress and your email will not be shared.
