FamilyHistoryWA is open – Booking is essentialWe are open

**NEW** Book a Monday morning session with us.

We’re back, but we have to operate differently.

We are now open again and fully compliant with the directions made under the Government’s Emergency Management Act.

This required us to consider physical and social distancing, how we handle books, how we handle cleaning and disinfecting, and that we have removed communal cleaning problems, or mitigated them.

What does this mean for you?

To use our research centre you need to book a computer or a research table, FHWA Trybooking. Your membership card will be swiped as usual.

If you want to return your library books and get some more, then you don’t need to book if you don’t intend to stay very long. If however, the number of people in Unit 5 will exceed the number allowed according to our COVID Safety Plan, you may have to wait outside for someone to leave.

The kitchen is closed. If you want a break during your research then you need to bring your own drink bottle so as to reduce to amount of disinfecting that has to be done in the kitchen.

We’ve closed the toilet in Unit 6 to reduce the disinfecting required. Please use the one in Unit 5.

Unit 4 will remain closed as the numbers we are allowed are so low because of physical and social distancing as to be pointless for a meeting. When Phase 5 rules are introduced they will be more relaxed and we will hopefully be able to open Unit 4. We will, of course, keep you informed.

Everyone, we are doing our best for you, and for our Society. We’ve put in a lot of work to get things up and running, so please be mindful of the distancing rules, and follow all the signs at our premises. Thank you.

Detailed Requirements

Units 5 and 6 – The Research Centre

Please follow these steps if you are planning to visit our Research Centre

  1. Do not visit if you are unwell. If you are experiencing ANY cough, cold, fever or any respiratory symptoms, OR think you may have been exposed to COVID-19, then please do not visit.
  2. If you want to return a library book or magazine, or borrow a book, then you can just visit as usual, have your membership card scanned, place your books in the quarantine box, and borrow your new books.
  3. If you want to use a table in unit 5 for research then you need to book your table through TryBookings. [Details below]
  4. If you want to use a computer, or the old film reader, in unit 6 then you need to book on TryBookings. [details below]

To control the number of people accessing our Research Centre in accordance with the Government’s Emergency Act, everyone coming to May Street must book their place. This will be managed through our normal booking system, TryBooking. If you cannot use TryBooking, phone (08) 9271 4311, during the hours below, and a booking will be made on your behalf.

If you turn up at the Research Centre without a booking we can only allow you in if we have a space for you. We cannot exceed the COVID Safety Plan’s number of people per unit.
