Description
DNA testing is the latest tool in the family historian's toolbox: the test connects you with your genetic cousins who share some of your DNA 'signature', which means they share common ancestors with you. Connecting with your DNA cousins can help break brick walls, help to share information and photos, and make new connections with family. It is particularly useful when the archive paper trail has run out.
This talk introduces you to the kinds of tests you can take, what you can do with your results, and how DNA fits in with traditional family history research.
Cate Pearce is the convenor for the WAGS DNA SIG and has been using DNA testing to further her own family history research, as well as helping others to break through brick walls using a combination of DNA testing and traditional archival methods.
