1. WAGS Resources

Members & the public can search our Library Catalogue on-line  -  you don't need to be logged in to view & search the catalogue.

1.1. Book Library

WAGS Book Library Catalogue will be on line in the future. You will be able to search by title, author and key words. We have approximately 20,000 items in the Book Library covering many areas of the world.

  • A wide range of Book titles and topics specific to the study of Genealogy
  • A large variety of Journals by Family History and Genealogy Societies from around the globe
  • Newsletters and articles
  • Books and papers written by both professional and amateur family historians
  • Guides and tips on how to research
  • Indexes
  • Musters
  • Census records
  • Post Office directories
  • Family History magazines

and many, many other resources to enhance the study of genealogy


1.2. Resource Room - WAGS Microfiche and Microfilm LibraryWAGS Resource Room

WAGS Microfiche and Microfilm library is also very extensive, and covers all Australian States, New Zealand, Great Britain and Ireland, and European sources, and includes:
  • Australian Convict Records
  • Birth, Baptism, Marriage and Death Indexes
  • Cemetery indexes
  • Electoral Rolls
  • Monumental Inscriptions
  • Newspaper indexes
  • Pioneer Registers
  • Probates and Wills
  • Post Office Directories
  • Ship Passenger lists - mainly Western Australian and some Eastern Australian indexes and many others

1.3. LDS fiche and film

WAGS is an affiliated LDS library, which enables full access to the FamilySearch.org database of microfilms, which are being progressively digitised and indexed online.

We also stock a limited collection of LDS flims

1.4. eLibrary & CD-Roms

WAGS eLibrary has over 1400 CD's, with over 2000 searchable items available for members to use in the Library Resource Room.
 
CD copyright owners have been contacted, and where permission has been granted the WAGS EDR (Electronic Document Repository) project team is uploading the CD onto our Library Server. Where permission has not been granted to upload onto our server, the CD will be available to use on a library computer as normal.
