Thanks for the advice. I have been to the Bassendean library and looked for books at Battye.
I haven't tried the sporting magazines no the WA Historical Society. I will try them.

Boxing, WA Lightweight and Welterweight champion Bert Lear. And Cyclist.
Have you looked in Battye Library at the various sporting magazines that were published in WA during this period? You could also ask at the Royal Western Australian Historical Society in Nedlands 93863841 and the Bassendean Public Library Local History Collection 9279 2966 or baslib@bassendean.wa.gov.au.

My Grandfather, Albert Frederick Lear was born in Warnambool but spent most of his life in Bassendean. He landed at Galipolli on 25 April 1915 but was wounded after 7 days and evacuated back to Western Australia. Despite the injury, he achieved many physical accomplishments.
Bert Lear boxed in WA in the 1920's with some exhibition matches up until 1939. An opponent, Jinm Dawson, died in Collie in 1922 after a bout with Bert. Bert also rode the Beverley to Perth bicycle race at least 3 times in the early 1920's. I have found many newspaper clippings (on Trove) outlining his career but only found one photo (that of him cycling).
Any information or picture of his boxing career is sought.
