Hello Everyone
It is with pleasure that I announce the winning story in the Western Ancestor’s writing competition for 2011.
The winner is:
An Edwardian Elocutionist – Lillian’s Journey
Congratulations to Wendy Benson from Red Hill, in Canberra, in the ACT.
Wendy has written an excellent story about her paternal grandmother, Lillian Hammett Dyer, who was an elocutionist in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Lillian was an interesting, talented and very community minded woman – to know more, you will have to read the story in the March edition of Western Ancestor, which is coming out soon.
Again, congratulations to Wendy on behalf of all the members of the WA Genealogical Society Inc [WAGS], and our thanks for entering the competition.
Wendy’s entry was one of 18 entries received, and the judges commented they were all of a very high standard. See next posting for more information.
Kind regards
Jennifer Lydon
