Hello Neil,
Thank you so much. We have followed the instructions and now I can create reports for the first time in over a year. I am one happy girl. My husband will not miss my moaning about TMG any time soon.
Kindest regards to both you nad Geoff.

I have just copied this from the TMG Forum. It was posted by Jim Bryam.
"The PDF printer still won't print even though it has been correctly installed.
Sometimes, even after the PDF driver has been installed and there is not a registration error, the PDF printer will still not print when trying to output a report with the output set to "Adobe Reader (PDF)".
You need to do the following...
1) Open the Start Menu and click the [Devices and Printers] button. (For the button to appear on the Start menu, this option must be enabled in the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties.)
2) Right-click on the "Wholly Genes PDF Writer v4" icon and select "Printer properties". (Be sure to select "Printer properties", not "Properties".)
3) Select the "Ports" tab.
4) On the "Ports" tab, make sure that the "NUL:" local port is selected.
5) Click [OK] to save your changes to the PDF driver properties.
You should now be able to output a report to a PDF file from TMG8."
Try it and let us know.
Hi Geoff,
Thanks for your help. I would love to say that your solution fixed the problem but we installed cutepdf when we installed V8. I tried again today but no go. My hubby has found a long winded way of saving to a word doc then creating a pdf from there using cutre PDF. Thanks to my hubby, I am now armed with a slideshow of screen dumps on how to get to my final destination - a report. I cannot understand why I have so much trouble when everyone else loves TMG...
Kindest regards for all you help. It is great to get such good advice and such a quick response.
Cheers Narelle
Narelle,
Go to the web site
http://www.cutepdf.com/products/cutepdf/writer.asp
and download CutePDFWriter
When it is installed you can write a PDF file instead of printing.
You use it like a printer, so when you want to create a PDF you just print your document, but instead of choosing the printer, you select CutePDFWriter, and it will then ask you for the filename, etc.
I have used it for years and it is OK. I still use it out of habit instead of the PDF facility in TMG.
Hope this helps
Regards
Geoff
Hi All,
I have just bought V8 after waiting for so long. I am still having the same issue with it as I did with V7. It will not create a PDF document and when I ask it to it just crashes. V8 is supposed to be compatible with Windows 7 which is installed on my computer. I have contacted TMG help but had no reply after a week. Any suggestions? I have so many family members that have requested reports from me and I cannot create any to send to them. It is very frustration and I definitely feel like I did not get value for money from my $29.
Thanks Narelle

I have TMG 8 up and running. Took a few minutes at midday to do. It was straight forward and quick to download and I didn't get any of the problems of over used servers in the USA that the TMG-L list users seem to be getting.
If you can't remember your TMG 7 serial number or the email you used at the time you bought TMG 7 then in TMG 7 go to Help - Tech support - Trouble report - click yes to open the report in your word processor and you can then cut and paste the serial number and your old email addresss.
Nick gave me my Christmas present when he knew I was going to download TMG 8. A 23" screen....... I'm in heaven!!!!!! It's great for the new add family window.
Cheerio and Happy Christmas to you all.

Be a little bit careful re your backup. Those of us using External Exhibits (strongly recommended) should not include exhibits in your backup and you must then make sure that the Exhibits option is unticked when you restore.
Just got mine installed and running also - cost $29.95 which is very reasonable. Early Xmas present to myself!
Remember to do a complete backup of your version 7 database (including exhibits) in order to be able to use it to restore the database under version 8.

I managed to get mine downloaded and installed last night but I wont get to play with it until after work.
Finally is has been released.
I have managed to get my order processed but I haven't been able to download yet. I think that the site is being swamped!!
