In October a sculpture will be unveiled in Roberts Road Subiaco to serve as a permanent memorial of the Irish Famine and the impact of Irish famine migrants on WA.
This has come about due to the vision and efforts of Fred Rea and his team. (Fred is the publisher of the Irish Scene magazine and chair of WA Irish Famine Commemoration)

Book the date in your diary: 2.30pm, Monday 9 October. There will be some dignitaries from Ireland as well as WA and you are all welcome, particularly if your ancestor was among the "bride ships" that brought 4,000 Irish women to WA. Keep up to date by bookmarking the WA Irish Famine Commemoration (as it is hard for Google to find it) www.waifc.org/latest-news.html
The City of Subiaco has been involved and there is information about the proposal on its blog here

This will take place a week before our October meeting so there is no opportunity to promote it then. Please let other WAGS members know.
