Have you seen this?

John O'Hart's Irish Pedigrees, 1892

Contains details of lots of Ireland's oldest families, especially the aristocratic ones. Even if your ancestor wasn't of one of these families, there's a lot of early history of some surnames in Ireland. Even aristocratic families had their black sheep!

Free at Archive.org archive.org/details/irishpedigreesor_01ohar. Comes in several volumes. A UK and a US edition both on Archive.org.
Saw one poor woman, barely acknowledged had 23 sons and one daughter! They cannot all have inherited an aristocratic role in the family!
