9th January 2018 was the soft launch of our new website – celebrating those men and their families who traveled around the world into the unknown.
The project was first broached with WAGS over 10 years ago and our work started in earnest seven years ago.
If it were not for the driving force of Margaret Hickey, our Ship’s Project “Admiral”, we would not have been ready today!
Although there are many others involved, I especially thank all the captains:-
Beth Smith, Diane Oldman, Gillian O’Mara, Glen Stevenson, Greg Larsen, Ian Barnes, Jeanette Lee, Kaye Kelly, Ken Lance (decd.), John Knowles
Liana Fitzpatrick, Marilyn McCutcheon, Marjorie Burton, Noel Donegan, Pam Anspach, Peter Short, Sally Nicholas, Teresa Handcock and Tom Joynes.
Margaret Hickey, who not only captained the Hougoumont, but worked on all the unassigned men...
Further, thanks to Jeanette Lee and Peter Short for all the behind the scenes on web work.
And Lyn Smith of Western Web designs, who created the site, who I cannot praise enough!
This website is not finished - having been aimed at this Hougoumont anniversary.
This not a static site, it was also designed to engage relatives and gain further information -
as you know we don’t want just the dry facts on our men.
So now we continue with uploading all the other ship's men.
Then the real work begins:
Hopefully the replies from EPG descendants will provide us with more information
and not too many 'discrepancies'.
Thank you all.
