Everyone,
The first meeting for 2018 of the Easter Australian SIG will be held next Saturday 17th February at unit 4, 48 May St, Bayswater at 10.30 pm. In keeping with the convict theme of the last month a presentation called "Footsteps to Freedom" will be given. Nearly 30,000 convict women were shipped to the Australian colonies. Torn from their children, their families and everything they held dear. Many lived in appalling conditions, scrounging to exist. Would they be better off in the new land or did they yearn for their homeland? One woman's journey from the streets of South London to Van Diemen's Land.
Come one and all, and join us in understanding going about your Eastern States of Australia, Family History and research.
