  • Affiliated Societies can attend the annual WAGS Affiliated Society Conference.  This gives you the opportunity to discuss genealogy matters with other Affiliated Societies.

  • Members of an Affiliated Society may use the WAGS library and research facilities during normal opening hours, upon production of a current membership card.  The only cost being for photocopying, and printouts of computer and microfiche.  Early advice of a group attending would be appreciated so that extra staff could be on duty.

  • The Affiliated Society can access the Members Only Area (MOA) of the WAGS website fromwithin their Library.  This section provides quality data, mainly, but not exclusively, of a Western Australian nature.

  • The WAGS library has dedicated computers with subscriptions to ancestry.com, Find My Past and Scotlands People. When visiting the library members of an Affiliated Society can pre-book these computers and have access to these websites.

  • Members of an Affiliated Society can attend the WAGS activities and courses program at WAGS member’s prices. There are sessions for beginners and the more advanced member. This also includes WAGS all day seminars and special events.

  • Members of an Affiliated Society can attend the WAGS lunchtime discussion meetings.

  • Members of an Affiliated Society may join any of the WAGS Special Interest Groups (SIGs), most of whom produce regular publications, either online or as a newsletter.  SIGs are Computer, Convict, DNA, Eastern Australian, Enrolled Pensioner Guards, European, India & South East Asia, Irish, Legacy User Group, London & South Of England, The Master Genealogist, Military, North of England, Scottish, South Australian, Swan River Pioneers and West Australian.

  • The Affiliated Society receives copies of the WAGS Special Interest Group’s newsletters.

  • As an Affiliated Society, your Nominated Representative will receive a copy of the WAGS journal, The Western Ancestor, which is published quarterly.

  • The Affiliated Society can submit reports of your own Society (including notice of your coming events) for free publication in The Western Ancestor.

  • The Affiliated Society can have a webpage on the WAGS website and advertise your Society’s office bearers, library hours and forthcoming events.
  • Members of an Affiliated Society are able to place their own research details on the Members Interest Directory on the WAGS website.
  • Members of an Affiliated Society can subscribe to the WAGS mailing list “WAGSNET”, where they can place their own research queries and view other people’s queries.

  • The WAGSNET mailing list may be used to advertise your Society’s events.

  • Members of an Affiliated Society can access WAGS Research Facilities at WAGS Member’s prices.

  • The Affiliated Society may have a WAGS member speak at one of their meetings.
