WAGS has a number of educational activities in February to help you with your family history research. Which ones will you attend?
9 February 2017 - Getting Started with your Family History Research - This introductory course provides you with all the information to get started, from how to access birth, death and marriage records, to finding relevant records. Includes instructions on how to record your findings along with some useful websites to further your research.
13 February 2017 - Genie Chatter - Have you never used Facebook? Or wondered how others use it to help with their research. Come along and discover the benefits of Facebook for family history research. If you do already use Facebook, bring along your favourite genealogy Facebook pages.
15 February 2017 - Orientation Session - Get the most out of your WAGS membership! New members (or any member wanting a refresher session or if you are thinking of joining WAGS) - find out what resources are available to help you with your research. Topics and demonstrations include - WAGS library (plus how to use the Library catalogue and information on our computers), WAGS website, Special Interest Groups, Activities program, bookshop, genealogy software, WAGSnet, WAGS Forum, plus lots more. Make a day of it - bring your lunch and join in some lunchtime discussion then do your own research in the library.
28 February 2017 - Trove Newspapers workshop - Ian Simon will demonstrate the National Library of Australia’s website Trove. This hands-on workshop will give participants time to brush up on search techniques. Explore the wealth of family history material available at your fingertips.
